Five things to do during and after Eid-ul-Azha

Eid-ul-Adha is being celebrated with religious zeal and devotion all around the world. It is a highly important religious festival for Muslims which remembers the feeling of sacrifice, love, brotherhood, and compassion among the Muslims. This Eid, popularly known as 'Bakra Eid' in my country, Pakistan, is celebrated on the tenth of Zil-Hajj; the Islamic month. This falls on August 1st in 2020.

Pakistanis are highly zealous and enthusiastic when it comes to Eid-ul-Adha. This can be proved by observing that all the animals in the cattle market were sold out days prior to Eid. Celebrating Eid is necessary but we need to comply with these 5 things while celebrating this great day.

1) Follow all the SOPs.

Coronavirus/COVID-19 has not ended in Pakistan and the world. Therefore, precautions should be taken while celebrating Eid. From offering Eid prayers to going into parties and feasts, all forms of precautionary measures and advisories must be followed. This will help keep ourselves and others safe from getting infected and ruin our best moments. A mask is your bestfriend these days. Consider it as your jugular vein. Keep it with you always. As Eric says, "Wash Your Hands". So follow it too.

2) Code of conduct:

Follow all the code of conduct of Qurbani as prescribed by Islam. This is important because it is largely ignored by the butchers and masses. Islam has emphasised upon sacrificing the animals while following the rules and regulations.

3) Meat distribution.

We have been reading and listening this thing since childhood that the meat of Qurbani should be divided into three parts. One part for yourself, one for your relatives and friends and One part for the poor. There are many people around us who cannot afford the Qurbani and their Eid is as simpler as their pocket allows. Keep them included in your happiness. They are not stereotyped as wearing torn clothes and having shaggy looks. They might be well respected people who can't request and ask for help publicly.

4) Cleanliness.

This one is important. Qurbani is a holy act to please Allah. If, in the process of pleasing Allah, you cause troubles for his people, he will surely not be happy. A deplorable condition of streets and roads is a common sight in Eid-ul-Adha days. There is nothing wrong in sacrificing animals but one must take care of the cleanliness around. The animal should not be sacrificed in the middle of the street. The remains and offles of the animals should not be left in the walkway and driving lanes. If possible, it should be put into a special disposable bag making it convenient for the municipal teams. Powder should be applied to the slaughter area after qurbani. Do everything to maintain cleanliness.

5) Take care of your HEALTH.

We all love different delicious and spicy food on Eid. BBQ party is a popular trend among friends and families. Feasts and parties are arranged without break on 3 days of Eid and every weekend is a new BBQ party arranged. We should eat the meat of our sacrificial animals and be grateful to Allah but we should also set a limit. Unbalanced consumption of meat will definitely create health problems for you and sometimes, will land you in hospital. Increase your water consumption during these days. Eat a limited amount of meat and make sure it is properly cooked.

I wish you all a Happy Eid ul Adha. I know I am late but nevermind, I was busy in family feasts and Qurbani. Stay Blessed and happy always!
